Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy
Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy or REBT is based on the assumption that human beings are capable of both rational and irrational thinking. This concept puts forth the idea that humans have inborn tendencies toward growth but often disrupt their movement toward it because of irrational thinking and self-defeating patterns. Unrealistic and illogical beliefs create disruptive feelings and create unhealthy behaviors. Because individuals create their own troubled thoughts and feelings, they also have the power to control emotional destiny. Each person creates the way he or she thinks and feels. With the capacity for self-awareness, one can observe and evaluate their behavior and change.
