PCP Psychedelic Drug Dependence

Addiction treatment at Spirit Lodge, the eight acre, resort-like holistic addiction treatment center, will include increasing your knowledge regarding drugs such as PCP, which is included in the psychedelic and hallucinogenic drug family.

During the Living in Balance portion of your treatment you will learn that the formal name for PCP or angel dust is phencyclidine.  While PCP is in the psychedelic drug family, it also has depressant and stimulant properties.  Unlike other psychedelics, PCP can entirely separate the mind from the body of the user on a temporary basis.  It is one of the most dangerous of all drug types.

PCP drug types were developed for assisting in the process of anesthetizing patients during surgical procedures.  Individuals affected by the drug PCP are not cognizant of a variety of sensory messages that they would otherwise experience.  Many who have taken PCP have become violent and incredibly strong because of this mind/body disconnect, wherein the user feels no pain.

PCP: Physical & Mental Reactions & Overdoses

PCP is known for its ability to induce angry and violent psychosis in the individual user who often experience frightening hallucinations and reality breaks.  Results of the various doses of PCP that you will learn about as you proceed forward in your educational sessions at Spirit Lodge are varied and cannot be predicted.

Overdoses of PCP have caused comas, convulsions and have proven to be fatal.  The point at which an overdose may occur is unknown, partly because PCP builds up in the fat cells storing this drug after each use.  This trait of PCP shared with Marijuana, which also builds up in the fat cells and which is a drug that you will be learning more about as you move forward in your addiction treatment program.

Spirit Lodge helps individuals from around the nation seeking help with drug or alcohol dependency.  In addition to serving Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, New Mexico, Arizona and Colorado, guests travel from California, New York, Florida for the innovative holistic addiction treatment offered at Spirit Lodge.
