Mescaline Drug Dependence
During your 35 days of addiction treatment at Spirit Lodge, you will learn about the many substances of abuse and their physical and psychological effects on those who use them. A series of educational sessions based on the Living in Balance program will be provided to aid in deepening your understanding of addiction and how to overcome this disease.
At this point in your treatment program, the mescaline family of drugs will be discussed. The mescaline family of drugs is also part of the psychedelic and hallucinogenic grouping of substances that are commonly abused.
You will discover that the peyote cactus naturally produces the chemical Mescaline. Other drugs that are abused are similar to Mescaline, although not naturally produced in the same way. This family of drugs includes the popular drug ecstasy, which is also called MDMA by its technical name. XTC and X are also varieties of names that are used for ecstasy.
Mescaline Drug Family Education in Addiction Treatment
Included in this Mescaline drug family category are the drugs MMDA, DOM and MDA. The properties of these Mescaline drugs and associated drugs can be included in the stimulant drug category and psychedelic drug categories as well as the amphetamine category since the M after MD in MDMA stands for methylenedioxy-methamphetamine.
Mescaline drugs have varying effects on the users dependent upon the dosage ingested. At lower doses, Mescaline drugs are not as strong as LSD; however, at higher doses, they may speed up the heart rate of individuals using them, as well as increase their blood pressure. They also may cause violent behaviors, agitation, hallucinations and anxiety issues.
