Learning what the acronym “HOW” means in a spiritually focused addiction treatment program will help to become more comfortable with understanding the aspects of what spirituality really is, rather than thinking of it in theoretical, or philosophical religious terms.
During this portion of your addiction treatment, you will learn that “H.O.W.” as referenced in addiction recovery programs stands for Honesty, Open-mindedness and Willingness.
Dealing with Emotions in Early Sobriety
The first discussion regarding this method for better comprehending spirituality will focus on the importance of honesty in achieving long-term sobriety. In a previous session, you will have discussed honesty in part and how it can help to prevent addiction relapse as a lack of this honesty is actually one of the common warning signs that the process of addiction relapse is in effect.
