Addiction Treatment Program: Addiction Triggers
As you attend the Living in Balance portion of the addiction treatment program at Spirit Lodge, you will be aided in moving forward in your recovery from an addiction to drugs through a series of educational sessions as part of your process of treatment for the disease of addiction.
When you hear the term “drug” used during this treatment process, it will be referring to substances that include any kind of mood altering chemicals, alcohol, psychedelics, hypnotic drugs, sedatives, opioids and any type of substance that would alter your mood.
During this part of the Living in Balance portion we will be addressing addiction triggers, what they are, how they can and have affected you and how you can overcome the influence they carry.
Drug and Alcohol Abuse Discussions
Some people with an addiction to drugs find that the discussion alone of drugs and alcohol causes them to feel an increased desire or craving. It is common for individuals with the disease of addiction to have a fear of even speaking about relapsing because they worry that the discussion itself might lead to the actual event.
However, while you participate in the holistic addiction treatment program at Spirit Lodge, we will be discussing many of these things for a variety of reasons with a positive end in mind because it is natural for recovering addicts to think about drugs, addiction relapse and cravings. Many people even have dreams about using.
It is important to understand how to prevent the dreams and the natural thought process that occurs in the minds of recovering addicts from turning into cravings that can lead to an addiction relapse. Education regarding the many aspects of addiction is necessary to help the majority of people identify the relapse signs and avoid proceeding too far down that path.
Substance Abuse Associations & Triggers
Individuals that regularly use drugs or alcohol all create associations in their mind with various activities in their life and the using behaviors that previously accompanied these. These specific associations can create triggers in the mind of the drug addict or alcoholic on a regular basis.
At Spirit Lodge we treat you as more than just an addiction. Our supportive, experienced counselors regularly help guests from Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Arkansas, New Mexico, Arizona, Colorado, California, New York and Florida and will work closely with you to assist you in ending your drug dependence or alcohol dependence.
