Addiction Recovery and Spirituality

During the Living in Balance portion of the holistic addiction treatment you participate in at Spirit Lodge, you will be introduced to the concept of spirituality in addiction recovery and appraised of the many connections between the spirituality of an individual and their addiction to drugs or alcohol, their lifestyle changes and progress, as well as what this type of spirituality is and means.

This particular session in the series of sessions that are presented for your addiction recovery effort by experienced counselors will thoroughly cover the topic of spirituality, the higher power concept and the helpfulness of prayer.

Self examination through the process of exercises will give you the chance to deeply look at your own personal viewpoints and experiences. You will also hear the phrase “spiritual experience” referenced and learn more about what that means.

Higher Power, Spirituality & Prayer Examined in Addiction Treatment

As you progress through this session which is grouped into two major parts, you will learn practical methods for increasing spirituality in your life. You will be provided with the opportunity to better comprehend addiction’s effect upon the spiritual condition of an individual and your discussions will include the many different paths that lead to an increase in the spirituality of each individual life.

As the terms “higher power” and “prayer” are discussed, you will be given a chance to analyze what you feel prayer actually is, as well as who your higher power in life is and what any and all of that both means and has to do with addiction recovery.

As with the majority of the aspects of your addiction recovery program, truly considering the information presented will require you to exercise courage in deep, honest, personal reflection and discussion with others as you learn more about the concepts of being open-minded, honest and willing while learning how to develop positive change in your life that can lead toward achieving long-term sobriety.

No Forcing of Other Religious Beliefs in Treatment for Addiction

Bear in mind as you progress through your addiction recovery program that no one else’s religion or set of beliefs regarding spirituality will need to be imposed upon you in order for you to recover from your addiction, however, a better understanding of what spirituality is and the role that it will play in your recovery will be an important learning experience as you attempt to move forward and overcome your alcohol dependence or drug dependence.
