Spirit Lodge is the realized dream of George Joseph and his wife Tricia. With 24 years of experience in this field, at Parkside and the last 14 years at The Right Step, and recognized as "National Counselor of the Year" by The Association of Addiction Professionals, George's insight and leadership has been critical in creating Spirit Lodge.
George began his career in the chemical dependency field in 1983 when he used his own struggles as a youth and his education thereafter as a springboard to help others find solutions to their alcohol or drug problems.
Since assuming leadership of The Right Step (www.rightstep.com) in 1994, George has grown the organization from a single treatment center facility to multiple locations and programs in Texas, Louisiana and New Mexico. The Right Step was built from a single-site program into the largest chemical dependency treatment organization in the Southwest while maintaining a high level of quality and affordable service for adolescents, adults, and their families.
At Spirit Lodge, we serve 24 Guests, both men and women over 22 years of age. The minimum stay is 35 days. The core element in addiction recovery is the 12-Step model. The Spirit Lodge Model expands this core to integrate the physical, mental, emotional, family, and spiritual health needs and related treatment plans for each individual.
Our team of MDs (addiction and psychiatric specializations), PhDs, Therapists, LCDCs, Nutritionists, Educators, and staff work collaboratively and individually with each guest.
We offer on-site spa services, personal trainers, a gourmet chef, nutritional counseling, hiking and biking, meditation, yoga and other recreational and educational enrichment opportunities.
As part of our personalized treatment, we establish a professional plan for each guest. Some employers of our guests and parents of our younger adults will want them to take the time away, completely. Other executives, the self employed, and artists may not be able to "check out" of duties for the duration of their program. We will, within reason, work with them and meet their individual needs.
