Drug & Alcohol Intervention Services
Spirit Lodge works with many Professional Interventionists throughout the country and supports the value of their services.
Introduced by Dr. Vernon E. Johnson over twenty-five years ago, an intervention works through care and concern coupled with specific evidence that helps to break through denial and move the addicted person to accept both the reality of his or her condition as well as the help needed to manage it.
Since addiction is a family disease, family members suffer too and are adversely affected in many ways as a result of the loved one's drug or alcohol abuse and chemical dependency.
Facilitated by a trained intervention professional, a formal or structured intervention is a group meeting designed to help the alcoholic or addict understand the problem and the need to take action and seek treatment. Through a series of guided steps, an interventionist will educate the significant people in the affected person's life and prepare for a group meeting with the individual where they will express their care and concern in a constructive manner.
The goal of intervention is to get the person to agree to accept help by way of attending a treatment program immediately. A high percentage of those intervened go to treatment and achieve sobriety. Interventions open the door to treatment and recovery allowing people to reclaim their lives and families and rebuild relationships.
